About Manik
Md Manik Sarker recently completed his second Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, under the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS).
During his graduate research, he developed the first national-scale high-resolution Land Use and Land Cover map of Bangladesh using multi-temporal optical and SAR satellite imagery. The dataset has been made openly accessible online, contributing to evidence-based agricultural planning, environmental monitoring, and sustainable land resource management.
He previously earned a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture, an MS in Genetics and Plant Breeding, and a PGD in ICT from Bangladesh Agricultural University. He has been serving under the Ministry of Agriculture, Bangladesh, since 2016 as an officer of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).
His broader research interests include the application of IoT and Artificial Intelligence in agriculture to ensure sustainable crop production.
With a multidisciplinary background in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Geospatial Technology, and Information Technology, Sarker aims to contribute to the next generation of safe and sustainable food systems through smart, data-driven, and climate-resilient agricultural innovations.
