Reserve a short name, put a password on it, and keep notes, keys and licence codes behind that one address. Anyone you hand the address and the password to can read what is in there; nobody else can. No account is needed — not yours, and not theirs.

Before you start

  • The address and the password are the whole thing. There is no account behind a vault and no list of who has opened it, so treat the pair the way you would treat the contents.
  • A name is claimed once. It cannot be renamed afterwards and it cannot be taken back while the vault exists, so pick something you will not mind typing.
  • A forgotten password cannot be recovered. Nothing here can email it to you — the vault holds no address to send it to. Deleting the vault is the only way past a lost password, and that takes the contents with it.
  • Expiry dates and visit limits are optional. A vault can be set to stop opening after a date, or after a number of visits; both are set by the site administrator on request.
